The Wedding
By now you all know how irritated I was that I didn't get Harry Potter before the wedding. It's probably all well and good since I can't read in the car and we didn't really have time for reading otherwise.
I remarked on the way up there how neat I thought it would be if my Dad showed up. He's been in Atlanta for his job for nearly a month and wasn't expected to finish yet though, so I didn't really expect it, but it did cross my mind. When we arrived and saw Cindy and Amber standing outside I assumed he must not have made it because otherwise he'd be with them. I was a little disappointed but as I said, I didn't really expect it.
We stood inside the church lobby, met with Granny and Grampy and some other family members and were all chatting when Cindy said "Oh, LOOK!" and pointed. I turned to look and there was my Dad!! I guess I was a little loud when I ran to hug him because I got hushed and reminded we were in church haha! Dad finished training early and got to come home. YAY!
So we all found our seats inside. Dad was helping to photograph as well as the professional photographer and video. It was a beautiful wedding ceremony. Rhyan (the bride) was just gorgeous and Townsend (groom) looked very handsome and busting with pride to be marrying Rhyan. It was a Catholic wedding, of which I have attended a few, but I still didn't really know what I was expected to say and when. Fortunately the priest was a pretty friendly guy and I never really felt out of place.
The ride to the reception was pouring buckets but it had died off by the time we arrived. It was being held at the World Golf Village where Rhyan works. It was originally set to be somewhere else but the management there wanted to throw it for her and gave her parents an amazing deal. It was *such* a nice place!
They had video rolling of the bride and groom growing up, dating, and the proposal. There was lots of food, drinks, dancing and fun. The whole thing was put together wonderfully. We had a wonderful time. Weddings always remind me of my own and how special you feel that day. It kinda takes you back and you remember all the wonderful reasons you married in the first place (which can sometimes be forgotten in the day to day routine).
This particular wedding also had the unfortunate effect of making me think about when OUR kids get married. I told Jason "You know I am gonna be a complete mess when Mikey gets married, right?" and he nodded with a knowing look. Of course he knows, he'll be the same way when his little angel gets married!
After the fun and festivities (which lasted till about 11 pm) we went back to the hotel and changed before metting Jeremy, Wendy, Dusty and Leslie at a downown hotel (we had Amber with us). We had one drink before the bar closed at 1 am!!! Lame!!! But we just went back to their hotel with them and had a few more drinks before heading back to the other hotel to catch a few winks.
Sunday morning we woke up, dressed and headed out for a big family breakfast at Perkins, which was delicous and fun. All in all it made for a fun weekend DESPITE not having Harry Potter to read. If I had just been sitting here, I'd have been even more ticked.
Wedding Pics!
Oh and the kids were fine. We called several times to check in and had just gotten to the point where we were mising them when we got home. Big thanks to my Mom for handling them both all by herself for nearly 24 hours! They are a lot easier to deal with when we get a break every now and then, haha!
